چکیده

Alterations in transcriptional control may contribute directly to can. inogenesis. Using the differential display technique in prostate cancer cells compared to normal prostate epithelial cells, we identified a down-regu lated gene and an up-regulated gene in cancer cells. The down-regulated gene encodes human epithelial tropomyosin (TMel), a member of the family of actin filament-binding proteins. The up-regulated gene encodes cytochrome c oxidase subunit Vic (COSVIc), a protein of the respiration chain in the mitochondria! inner membrane. The differential display pattern was confirmed by Northern hybridization in both prostate tissue and cell lines. In situ hybridization of malignant prostate epithelial tissue using a digoxigenin-labeled antisense riboprobe detected strong staining for niKN \ of COSYIc, as opposed to very weak staining in normal prostate epithelium. The expression pattern of COSVIc may be a useful marker for studying the alteration of energy metabolism in cancer cells and for the diagnosis of prostate cancer.

Analysis of Gene Expression in Human Prostate Cancer Identification of Differentially Expressed Genes by Serial

Prostate cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in American males. To better understand the genetic bases of this disease, we have generated a comprehensive molecular profile of human prostate. The gene expression pattern in normal and prostate cancer tissues was analyzed by serial analysis of gene expression (SAGE). A total of 133,217 transcripts were analyzed, and 35,185 distinct SAGE ta...

بررسی اثرات تغییر بیان ریز آر ان ای های سلولی ناشی از ویروس پاپیلوم انسانی در سلول های سرطانی سنگفرشی سر و گردن در سطح پروفیل بیان ژنی

Background and aim: Human Papilloma Virus plays an important role in some of human malignancies and causes alterations in normal expression levels of cellular microRNAs. In this paper, we evaluated the effects of such changes on Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma tumor samples at gene expression profile level. Methods: in this descriptive-analytical study, gene expression profiles of 36 tum...

Systematic enrichment analysis of microRNA expression profiling studies in endometriosis

Objective(s): The purpose of this study was to conduct a meta-analysis on human microRNAs (miRNAs) expression data of endometriosis tissue profiles versus those of normal controls and to identify novel putative diagnostic markers. Materials andMethods: PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Ovid Medline were used to search for endometriosis miRNA expression profiling studies of endometriosis. The miRN...

GSK3β and CREB3 Gene Expression Profiling in Benign and Malignant Salivary Gland Tumors

Background: Salivary gland tumors (SGT) are rare lesions with uncertain histopathology. One of the major signaling pathways that participate in the development of several tumors is protein kinase A. In this pathway, glycogen synthase kinase β (GSK3β) and cAMP responsive element binding protein (CREB3) are two genes which are supposed to be down regulated in most human tumors. The expression lev...

Identification of key genes and pathways involved in vitiligo vulgaris by gene network analysis

Background and Aim: Vitiligo vulgaris is an acquired, chronic skin and hair condition characterized clinically by loss of melanin, which, if untreated, is typically progressive and irreversible. The aim of the present study was to identify potential genes involved in the pathogenesis of vitiligo. Methods: One dataset of mRNA expression in patients with vitiligo (GSE65127) were obtained from ...
